The New Fiat 500: Top 10 Things You Need to Know About It

This is the new Fiat 500 and it replaces the old one which seems to have been around since forever, big news about this new one though is the fact. It’s an electric car. Here we have the top 10 things you need to know about it.

Design

Let’s start off by talking about the design, this new 500 looked pretty much like the old one but Fiat doing that thing like Porsche does where they’re more evolving their design because it’s become such a style icon but it is different.

From the front, we’ve got the old car the new car lined up and you can see that the new car has a more aggressive and angular look. One thing that really stands out is the headlights so what they have done is separated out the daytime running light, so they sit above the headlights and it sort of gives it a cross terse look.

From the sides, it looks a lot more toned and athletic than the old cars roundish blobby shape. It’s got some really cool flushed door handles

Like the front in the way that it’s just a bit more angular and aggressive looking and of course this time there is no exhaust pipe because it’s electric.

Performance

There’s new electric Fiat 500 is powered by a motor which drives the front wheels, it produces 118 horsepower and that’s good for a top speed which fit says itself limited to 93 miles an hour. 93 miles an hour is fast enough for in the UK and this little car will feel pretty nippy around town, obviously being electric he had that instant torque from the motor.

Interior

The design of the dashboard on the old Fiat 500 was a little bit confusing and disorganized. This new one is way better it just looks way more logical and simplistic. The way they’ve finally managed to integrate the infotainment system properly into the dash whereas before it kind of looked like an afterthought you still get the classic Fiat 500 round a digital speedo though obviously it’s got a high-tech digital screen on it this time for this new Fiat 500e.

This new car is also slightly bigger than the old car though doesn’t do think you’re
gonna be able to fit some adults in the back seats comfortably.

Range

This new Fiat 500 has a 42-kilowatt hour battery which is good for a range of 199 miles. It’s also a good number that’s better than the range you get from a Honda, VW electric, and Mini.

Infotainment

This new Fiat 500 comes with a 10-inch display and it’s got stuff like the smartphone mirroring, inbuilt satellite navigation as a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well also you get voice recognition, now you can actually connect to the car using an app so you’ll be able to do things like preheating. It’s nice and warm or cool for when you’re getting it depending on the season.

Convertible

Fiat is very proud of the fact that they have created the world’s first four-seater convertible electric car. It’s more got a big sunroof as innate because even when you got the
roof back you got these huge pillars at the side.

Price

The old Fiat wasn’t exactly cheap but at least it was sort of affordable, this new one though is rather expensive. The starting price wait for it is 29,000 pounds that’s even after taking
into account the 3,000 Pounds grant you get from the government towards an electric car. As a result, the starting price of this new Fiat 500 is more than that of the Honda E or the Mini electric.

Charging

If you buy one of the launch edition versions of the new Fiat 500 it will chunk in a free of charge three kilowatt-hour home wall charger for you there to be fair. They do take a while to charge the car so you’d be better off upgrading to a seven-kilowatt version and then bail to charge it from empty to full in six hours which means, if you plug it in at night when you get them in the morning it’ll be good to go when you’re out driving.

If you can find an 85-kilowatt fast charger then you can charge the car from empty to 80% for in just 30 minutes which is pretty quick.

Special edition

The Italians are not only famous for building cars but also for their fashion, and that’s why Fiat is teamed up with various Italian fashion houses to produce special edition versions of the new Fiat 500 electric.

There’s the Armani car which uses things like Ward and leather on the interior and then it has special paint which somehow absorbs pollution.

Next is the Kartell model which uses various recycled plastics in the construction of the interior trim and it also has some textured chrome paint.

The best one though is the Bvlgari it’s painting actually has a real gold leaf in it then inside you’ve got vintage scars on the dashboard and also a jeweled brooch on the steering wheel.

Safety

This new Fiat 500 electric gets all the latest driving aids you get on much bigger cars one which you probably don’t necessarily need those. Good to have is a 360-degree view camera which will make it even easier to park this little car then there’s a load of sensors and cameras fitted to the car so they can spot things like other cars pedestrians and cyclists. It has adaptive cruise control.
